World Heritage Coin Sets 3. Yakushima
Yakushima lies 60 kilometers south of Sata Cape of Kagoshima Prefecture (south district in Japan). This round shaped island has jagged mountains including the highest point named Miyanouradake (height 1,935mm). A 10,747-hectare area of the 500 square kilometer island was recently registered as a world heritage. Yakushima has 3,000 millimeters of rain annually in the sea level plain, having a subtropical climate with an average temperature of 20℃. While tropical fish swim among corals on the shore, the mountains are covered with snow. The weather at the top of the mountains is similar to that of the center of Hokkaido (northernmost district in Japan).
