50th Anniversary of the Shinkansen 100 Yen Commemorative Clad Coin (2016)
The Japan Mint has struck legal tender 100 yen clad coins to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the first Shinkansen train line. Following 2015 issues, they are the second commemorative 100 yen coins ever in the past 40 years.
This coin set contains the four coins whose obverses depict representative Shinkansen trains of Yamagata, Akita, Kyushu and Hokkaido lines, and whose reverses commonly carry an image of the first Shinkansen, “0-series.”
