50 years of Japan’s Accession to the United Nations 1,000 Yen Commemorative Silver Proof Coin
Japan Mint has released a 1,000 yen commemorative silver proof coin to celebrate 50 years of Japan's Accession to the United Nations.
The obverse of the coin features the Earth and cherry blossoms and the reverse side features the United Nations emblem. The 8 cherry blossoms around the earth symbolize that Japan become the 80th member of the United Nations in 1956 and the 5 cherry buds celebrate the 50 years of Japan's Accession to the United Nations. The edge of the coin is helically milled.
With the sophisticated pad-printing technology, the cherry blossoms and the earth are beautifully colored in five colors: white, blue, pink, yellow-green and green.
The coin weighs 31.1g (1oz) and has a diameter of 40mm. Total mintage of the coin is limited to 70,000.
