2014 Children’s Song Coin Set "A Song of the Cradle"
We started this Japanese children's song series in 2008 with aims to pass down children's songs for generations.
This set, whose book-shaped case incorporates a music box, features "A Song of the Cradle".
The music was composed by Kusakawa Sin, and its lyrics were written by Kitahara Hakushu, a famous poet in Japan. It has been sung by parents to children as a lullaby over generations for almost a hundred years. It is one of the most beloved and representative songs in Japan , and was chosen as one of the"Selection of 100 Japanese Songs" in 2006.
The coin set includes:
- Six Japanese legal tender coins in Brilliant Uncirculated condition (a 500 yen nickel-brass coin, a 100 yen cupronickel coin, a 50 cupronickel coin, a 10 yen bronze coin, a 5 yen brass coin and a 1 yen aluminum coin),
- A special red brass medal designed a baby sleeping in a cradle and loquats fruits (obverse), and the year of issue (2014) and kanji characters representing this year's oriental zodiac, "Year of the Horse" (reverse),
- A plastic display case,
- A book-shaped case and a built-in music box playing the song "Yurikago no uta (A Song of the Cradle)",
- A paper packaging.
