2009 marks the 400th Anniversary of Trade Relations between Japan and the Netherlands, and commemorates the long-standing friendship between two countries. The beginning of these commercial relations dates back to 1609, when Tokugawa Ieyasu issued an official trade permit to the Netherlands.
